Public Relations Manager

We are Sparkloft Media, a fast-growing social media agency and we are currently hiring a Public Relations Manager to join our team in Portland. As this is the first time we are hiring for a public relations position we are looking for a self-starter with a strategic approach.

Primary Job Description:

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for all public relations efforts with the goal to create national awareness for our award-winning work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a list of local and national target press contacts
  • Be the main point of contact for our PR contacts, responsible for writing press releases and coordinating stories with trade publications and national/local media
  • Maintain and evolve our existing content strategy and work with our teams to execute on it including blog posts, success stories, process stories, speaking engagements, and thought leadership
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and across office locations
  • Manage our award submissions, including managing the annual award schedule, gathering entries, handling write-ups and entering our submissions
  • Assist in business development efforts - creating marketing presentations and proposal responses
  • Helping to further develop and fine-tune Sparkloft’s social strategy

Experience and other Skill Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in developing, establishing and maintaining marketing outreach to meet organizational objectives (agency or PR experience a plus!)
  • The ability to effectively manage the PR activities of the organization
  • Exceptional communications skills (copywriting skills are a must)
  • Experience building and nurturing PR contacts list
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines
  • A knowledge and passionate interest in our industry and good creative work
  • A knack for identifying and disseminating great stories and developing editorial calendars
  • A love of content creation
  • A good sense of humor
  • Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, email distribution software, standard social media platforms, and basic HTML editing abilities
