Motion Design Specialist

Primary Job Description:

Oversee each project from conception to completion and may also be involved in the marketing and distribution process. You'll work closely with directors and other production staff on shoots to ensure creative quality and on-brand delivery.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with the Creative Team:

·       Produce and film beautiful, on-trend social first video and motion design assets for clients

·       Act as a sounding board for the director

·       Read, research and assess ideas and finished scripts and provide recommendations to creative staff based on budget

·       Hold regular meetings with the director to discuss characters, scenes, edits and motion design pieces

·       High level understanding of current video trends and skills 

·       Proven storyboarding, editing, storytelling and filming experience

·       Champion principles of storytelling and consumer needs focused video work

·       Audio sweetening, editing, recording and editing to effectively balance sound, dialogue and music in videos in order to create the desired emotional and storytelling effect

·       Responsible for compiling, editing and refining recorded raw material into a finished product

·       Continually experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements

·       Artistic with a strong understanding of fundamental design skills, an eye for design, a strong sense of color, typography, and design composition

·       Lead all aspects of video production from pre-production, production and post-production, including engaging storytelling and scriptwriting, artistic lighting, audio recording, non-linear video editing, motion graphic design, and visual storytelling

·       Provide and execute a strategy for video including defining and driving the right voice for the audience; main focus on sales & marketing videos, content marketing; and assistance with corporate communication video


Working with Contractors:

·       Work with Producers, PM and AM staff to integrate the schedule into the larger program schedule and account goals

·       Working with Account and Project Management Teams:

·       Maintain contemporary technical skills

·       Organize shooting schedules - dependent on the type of producer role and availability of support staff

·       Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes of practice and health and safety laws

·       Supervise the progress of the project from production to post production

·       Bring the finished production in on budget




Experience and other Skill Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in visual communications or a related field

·       At least 4+ years experience with consumer brands, preferably at a top digital agency

·       The ability to listen to others and to work well as part of a team

·       A high level of self-motivation, commitment and dedication

·       Organizational and time management skills

·       Be creative not only at budgets, scoping and storytelling but also at solving problems

·       A strong portfolio

·       Effective, clear and concise presentation skills along with exceptional written and verbal communication prowess with the ability to communicate at all levels.

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills

·       A track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills.

·       Commercial drone operational experience

·       360 video film and editing

·       Expert level knowledge in Adobe Premiere Pro

·       Working knowledge of Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator
